About

The Amorical Cup is North America’s Blood Bowl team championship, normally held every three years. It had been scheduled to happen in Ottawa, Canada, in June 2020, but COVID-19 forced its postponement. The tournament will now occur on June 1 & 2, 2024.

Teams of four compete against each other for the championship. The defending champions are The Tragically Hit, a Canadian team consisting of prominent NAF coaches: natsirtdm / stimme / genghis / doomington

Each tournament generates custom Blood Bowl miniatures that are representative of Canada, Mexico, and the United States of America. For 2024, the miniatures will all be Stunties!

At each edition of the Amorical Cup, no less than 17 glittering prizes are up for grabs! There are seven given out to teams:

– Champion Team
– Runners Up
– 3rd Place
– All Amorical Team (the highest-placing team with 6 squad points or less)
– the team with the most Casualties
– the team that scores the most Touchdowns
– the team that concedes the least Touchdowns.

There are ten prizes handed out on an individual basis:
– Top individual performance
– 2nd best individual performance
– 3rd best individual performance
– Highest placing Tier A coach
– Highest placing Tier B coach
– Highest placing Tier C coach
– Highest placing Tier D coach
– The coach with the most Casualties
– The coach who scores the most Touchdowns
– The coach who concedes the least Touchdowns

How the Amorical Cup works

Teams are composed of squads of 4 coaches. Match-ups for the first round are generated randomly, both in terms of which teams play each other and which coaches within the teams play what other coach within the team of the adversary.

Subsequent rounds are managed via the Swiss system and this applies not only to which teams play each other, but the match-ups between the four coaches within the teams. For example, in Round Two, the team in first place in the standings will play the team in second place, while the team in third place will play the team in fourth place, and so on. Within the match-ups between the team in first place and the team in second place, the coach with the best individual performance on the team in first place will play the coach with the best individual performance on the team in second place.

Results are compared after the round. If one team had more wins than their opposing team, their team is awarded 2 points. If the teams had the same number of wins and losses, the round ends in a draw and both teams are awarded 1 point. No points are awarded for a loss. Individual performance is likewise treated as 2 points for a win, 1 point for a draw, and 0 points for a loss.

The tie-breakers are:
– Strength of schedule
– Combined CAS & TD +/-
– TD +/-
– TD Scored
